Safeguarding Master Class for practitioners in independent practice

£145.00

When there is no "Safeguarding Lead" to call, the responsibility sits with you.

In private practice, you are often working in isolation. When a disclosure happens or a risk escalates, you don’t have a multidisciplinary team down the hall to consult. You are the one who must navigate the complex intersection of legal duty, clinical ethics, and the therapeutic alliance.

Generic safeguarding courses often fail to address the specific barriers we face as independent psychological practitioners. This training is designed to bridge that gap.

The 360° Perspective: Psychology, Police, Social Care

We bring you a truly multidisciplinary viewpoint, drawing on the "national picture" and real-world lessons from when things go wrong. This training is co-delivered by:

  • Dr. Rebekah Eglinton – Consultant Clinical Psychologist, former Head of Support, Safeguarding and Police referrals at the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse and Non-Exec Director for the Health & Care Professions Council.

  • A Former Child Protection Police Officer – Expert in legal mandates and evidence integrity.

  • A Consultant Social Worker – Expert in thresholds and statutory systems.

What We Address

This refresher course covers both adult and child safeguarding, moving beyond "tick-box" theory to provide actionable, clinical clarity:

  • Responding in the Moment: How to handle a disclosure effectively without compromising the integrity of potential evidence.

  • Referral Confidence: Knowing exactly when, how, and what to refer

  • Legal & Regulatory Compliance: Clear guidance on mandatory reporting and your professional duties as an independent clinician.

  • Lessons from the National Picture: Learning from reviews, inquiries and fitness to practice cases to understand where systems and individual practitioners fail and how to protect your clients (and your practice).

  • Defensible Decision-Making: How to ensure robust, recorded, and compliant practice.

Our Goal: To leave you feeling clear, confident, and fully compliant in your safeguarding responsibilities.

Additional Information

This refresher is aimed at practitioners with previous safeguarding training and experience but trainees are also welcome.

We purposefully cover both child and adult safeguarding in these trainings. My view is that we can encounter issues relating to both in our practice regardless of specialism, and we should be ready to take appropriate action.

Delegates come from a range of services and contexts, including those working in statutory services but the training is geared to support those in independent practice.

Delegates will receive a slide deck packed with helpful links and resources.

The training delivered in this webinar is focused on the UK and in particular English statute.
